July 20, 2002 - BlackRock Center for the Arts Announces Summer Concert Series

The BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown, Maryland recently announced the schedule for its outdoor concert series, which began in July. The concerts are the first events at the newly constructed arts facility, which will host its grand opening in October.

BlackRock Center for the Arts is located in the Germantown Town Center. Summer concerts will be held at BlackRock's outdoor amphitheater. Picnicking on the lawn is encouraged, however alcoholic beverages are prohibited.

The concerts will be held every Wednesday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. beginning Wednesday, July 10 and running throughout the summer. The final concert will be held Saturday, August 31. June 11 , 2002 - Lyme Disease and the Deer Management Plan

Interested in Lyme Disease and the Deer Management Plan for our area? Get 2 for the price of 1 at a June 18 meeting (7-10 PM, Redland Middle School). There will be a 45 minute presentation on Minimizing Risk from Lyme Disease by representatives of the US Department of Agriculture Parasite Biology Laboratory and the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Following that, there will be a 30 minute review of the Montgomery County Deer Management Group's Annual (FY 2002) Report in the Deer Management Plan and Recommendations for FY 2003. It was this group that recommended reducing the number of deer in our area by a controlled hunt; this hunt was announced by signs posted in our area in the recent past.
